Matthew Eaves (he/him) mbacp

EXISTENTIAL THERAPIST

Matthew holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from York St. John University. He has provided one-on-one counselling in person, over the phone, and through Zoom at the York St. John Counselling and Mental Health Centre since 2018, and is a Counselling Team Leader for the RNIB (The Royal National Institute of Blind People). Matthew also provides Counselling for Sight Loss training for qualified counsellors through the RNIB and is project lead for integrating new technologies for the RNIB’s Counselling and Wellbeing Service.

Hello, I'm Matthew.

I understand that sometimes life's challenges can become overwhelming, and it's natural to want to escape from or fix them. I've experienced that struggle, and it was the transformative power of the counselling I received that led me to become a therapist. It’s my role to help you navigate your own way through difficulties, and find ways of approaching them that work for you, no matter how daunting they may seem.

My specialization lies in helping you explore and understand your place in the world, your self-perception, your relationships, and your circumstances. Together, we can explore the changes you may want to make.

With extensive experience working with diverse emotional and practical issues, I don't believe in labelling or categorising people. I value the uniqueness of each client and their individual perspectives.

I provide a respectful and supportive relationship to help you navigate through your challenges. I'll always treat you respectfully and as a person, not as a problem to solve or a puzzle to unravel.

Eleanor Welch (she/her) mbacp

PERSON-CENTRED EXPERIENTIAL THERAPIST

Eleanor holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from York St. John University. She has provided one-on-one counselling at the Well Women's Centre in Wakefield, the UK Counselling Network, and served as a Counsellor for Just ‘B’ Bereavement Support and Talking Spaces, additionally working to support trainee and qualified counsellors by co-creating and providing training in working with LGBTQ+ clients. Eleanor currently works with the NHS, offering Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression.

Hi, my name is Eleanor.

Sometimes the world inside our head and bodies can feel as overwhelming as the world around us. In recent years we have felt the world to be challenging on both a global and local level, for many this has resulted in us questioning our sense of belonging in both our local and global community. I believe that how we relate to ourselves impacts on how we relate to others and the world too. So, let's start with you!

It can be scary to take the first steps but I will be with you from the beginning of this journey, right to when you feel you have achieved what you set out to.

I work one to one with clients to explore their thoughts, feelings and needs. I believe that exploration of our inner worlds in a safe therapeutic environment can help us make authentic choices and live a more enriching life. I am passionate about helping people on their life journeys to move forward and find their true potential.

I have experience of working with a wide range of subjects including but not limited to: domestic violence, emotional abuse, relationship issues, divorce, childhood trauma, COVID issues, bereavement and bereavement by suicide, and workplace conflict.

Therapy with Us

At Eaves & Welch Therapy, we are passionate about helping you navigate your way through your distress. We are committed to offering the highest standard support at an affordable price to help you find your own path to a better life. We pride ourselves on building genuine, warm personal connections, because it's within these relationships that we find the strength to confront life's challenges.

How Can We Make a Difference in Your Life?

We know that every person responds uniquely to their circumstances, bringing their own worldview to the table. Our teletherapy counsellors respect your individuality, viewing you as a complete person rather than a collection of symptoms or a diagnostic label. We understand that counselling and psychotherapy are at their best when grounded in the therapeutic relationship. Building trust and providing the supportive connection you need is our primary focus. We'll assist you in exploring and making sense of your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, helping you discover new perspectives that can unlock new possibilities.

Our conversations are held in the strictest confidentiality, creating a safe space to understand your world, yourself, and your relationships. Together, we'll work to understand your needs and celebrate your achievements.

What Challenges Can We Tackle Together?

We bring a wealth of experience in offering non-judgemental therapeutic support to individuals facing a wide spectrum of issues. Whatever you're dealing with, from anxiety, sadness or depression, and panic attacks to stress, loneliness, phobias, low self-esteem, trauma, or bereavement, you don't have to face it alone. We never try to ‘fix’ you or solve your problems for you — that doesn’t work. Instead our therapists seek to empower you to find your own path, based on the deeper understanding of yourself and your life we’ll build together. Having the autonomy and power to find your own solutions doesn’t mean you have to search alone.

Preparing for Your Consultation or Therapy Session

Where you choose to engage in therapy can significantly impact the quality of your session. Ensuring that you're in a secure and private environment, free from disturbances and the risk of being overheard, is of utmost importance. Your sessions with your therapist are entirely confidential, and they, too, will be in a private setting to ensure your privacy.

It's also a thoughtful practice to have a glass of water within reach, as well as tissues, as emotional exploration can sometimes lead to intense feelings.

Creating a Distraction-Free Space

During your therapy, you and your therapist will delve into deeper thoughts and emotions, making it vital to minimize distractions. Engaging in activities that demand your attention during your sessions should be avoided. This way, you can fully focus on the therapeutic process and get the most out of your valuable time with your therapist.
